Are You Serious?

Network Marketing IS NOT Multi-Level Marketing

“Are you serious about building your MLM Business?”

“Are you serious about recruiting people in your downline?”

“If you’re serious, you need to treat this opportunity as a business.”

“When you get serious about growing your business, I’ll help you out.”

I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard people spout this crap out of their mouth about their downlines and it pisses me off every time.

If they weren’t serious, they wouldn’t have paid X amount to join that MLM would they?

That’s my point…

I think everyone who joins a MLM Company is serious about making money. Every person wants to quit their day job and hop around the world to do as they please.

The problem is not that the person isn’t serious…

It’s that most people have no idea what it takes to run a business.

There’s a reason so many small businesses fail across the U.S. every year… People start businesses because they are good at something, but business is not one of those things they are good at.

Marketing a business is the single most important thing you need to do… BUT when people rely only on the Network of all the people they know to grow their business, over 95% of the time they will fail.

Yes, I’m talking about Network Marketing… The stupidest marketing model of all time.

To educate the people who aren’t in the know… Multi-Level Marketing is a business structure while Network Marketing is a marketing method. They are often interchanged and confused, BUT they are not the same.

Network Marketing can be used in any business model and is taught in a few different industries, not just Multi-Level Marketing…

Let’s take Multi-Level Marketing out of the equation and look at another industry that is notorious for starting off people by using Network Marketing…

The Real Estate Industry.

Most Realtors are taught right out of the gate to use their “sphere of influence” or “all of the people they know” to see if someone wants to buy or list a house with them and then are told to ask for referrals.

Yes there are some Realtors who are successful at this, but they are far and few between.

With approximately 1,200,000 realtors in the country, only 36,000 of them make more than $50,000 per year. And the turnover rate for people who “try” real estate is off the chart.

The most successful real estate agents don’t rely on their family, friends and business associates to make a living… They market and brand themselves to people who want to buy and sell their homes. It doesn’t matter which Real Estate Agency they hang their license with (Remax, Century 21, Keller Williams, etc.), the real estate agent is known for who they are, not what company they are with.

They have websites and blogs, utilize social media and have multiple streams of people contacting them. A few agents who are:

The one thing to take note about each of these sites is that the agent is branding themselves, not their agency. Any real estate agent who says they don’t market themselves is one of the 97% who isn’t making money.

Like I said, Network Marketing is the stupidest way of marketing yourself… Putting all of your eggs in one marketing basket is equally stupid.

To be successful in any business, you have to market yourself on many different levels.  This is one thing that uplines typically don’t tell their downlines.  Not because they are hiding anything… it’s because they don’t know themselves.

Before you get involved with a MLM Company you need to have a marketing budget in place and have a clear vision of exactly how you are going to market your MLM Business.  Not only that, you NEED to market yourself to the people who want to be part of a MLM Company…

Let’s face is… Your Great Aunt Gertrude isn’t the best candidate for your MLM Business.
