2 Things That Will Make or Break You on Twitter

Twitter is great… Not for just socializing but for promoting your business as well.

One thing that really baffles me is how people try to promote their products and services. Most people have it all wrong.

  • Hitting someone up to buy or do something immediately after you befriend them is lame.
  • Putting outlandish claims to get someone to click on your Tweet is stupid.

Listen

If you want active Twitter followers you need to listen to what they are Tweeting about. Listen to their conversations. Learn about their interests. Then tweet something related.

If you’re not paying attention to your Twitter audience, you’re missing the boat.

Engage

Just because you pay attention to your Twitter followers doesn’t mean they are going to do anything for you. You also need to engage them.

If you see a good Tweet, RT it.

When you see people RT your stuff, how does that make you feel?

It makes other people feel the same way.

If someone posts something, you can also reply or respond with a direct message and start a conversation with them. It’s a good way to get to know your followers.

If you listen to your audience and engage them, people are going to be much more responsive when you send a Tweet than if you just befriended someone and send them a Tweet saying “Make $100 Now, click here: bit.1234.”

Remember to Listen & Engage… If you don’t do this, you are going to be spinning your wheels on Twitter.

Do you listen to and engage your Twitter followers?
